E-Verify Compliance Workshop Series |
On September 8, 2009, a new federal regulation went into effect requiring compliance with the E-Verify system for all federal government contracts. This online system through the Department of Homeland Security ("DHS") is designed to electronically verify the employment authorization of employees working in the United States. This new workshop sponsored by ISU Extension-CIRAS provides Iowa companies information about the new E-Verify compliance requirements for federal contractors effective 9/8/09. In addition, federal contracting poster and DOD Ethics Hotline requirements will be reviewed. The workshop will be presented nine locations across the state of Iowa. Non-compliance with the E-Verify system can lead to monetary fines, civil and/or criminal penalties under the Immigration and Naturalization Act ("INA") and/or potential debarment from federal contracts.
